Rick Poulette, President, CWA Local 3181
Hello everyone. The Session is finally over in Tallahassee. First, I would like to thank all of you who participated in the defeat of SB 1014, anti-union bill. We could not have defeated this bill without everyone's support and help. So I personally thank each and everyone of you for a job well done. But make no mistake about it, it is definitely not over. Expect this bill to come back up at next years session. We should all stand ready to fight when and if this bill comes back up in Tallahassee.
I would like to specifically thank Dylan Owens and Bo Chesnes, for going to Tallahassee on behalf of our Local Union. Thanks also go out to Mark Warme, Glenn Delk, Michelle Balcom, David Specian, Bob Cooper for phone banking the membership as well as all the members in St Lucie County School District and the Village of Tequesta, and each and everyone of you who made phone calls to your Legislators in Tallahassee and ask them to vote NO on SB 1014.
I would also like to thank the CWA National President, Chris Shelton and Vice President of PHCW, Margreat Cook and our CWA District 3 Vice President, Richard Honeycutt, along with Curtis Hierro, Senior Campaign Lead,CWA, Florida Legislative Political Action Team and Glenda Abicht, CWA legislative and Political Coordinator, for all their support in helping to defeat this bad anti-union Bill. Also a shot-out to Ted Parsons of the PBTC AFL-CIO for all his hard work on this bill.
We can finally breathe a sigh of relief, for now.
